Working the Summer Skirt

Summer dressing has never really been my forte - I'm too much of a jeans, leather jackets and ankle boots kinda gal. When the weather starts heating up my brain loses the ability to put interesting outfits together and I end up wearing loose over-sized tees with little denim cut offs everyday. A good look, but can get a little boring.

This year I need not worry because Topshop have definitely got my back. From my new favourite tropical leaf print dress to this totally snazzy aztec skirt, they are pulling it out the bag for easy to wear, throw on pieces that jazz up a plain old vest top. Sorted.

Tonight I'm wearing the skirt out for a dinner date paired with my new oh-so-Alexander-Wang mules and a slightly less creased top, but I will also be rocking this A-line number with my ugly faux-Birkenstocks during the daytime, or maybe even a pair of ankle boots and a fluffy cropped jumper on cooler days.

What are some of your favourite summer fashion staples?

Welcome to the Jungle

There's no denying it, the tropical print has well and truly taken over the high street this season. Whether it's palm trees, pineapples, exotic birds or big green leaves, the print is absolutely everywhere at the moment. This cute Topshop dress is not my first purchase into the trend, and I fear it won't be my last either. There's just something about the bright, exotic prints that are taking me back to my holidays and bringing a smile to my face right now.

The most exciting thing about this outfit for me, as with many outfits, is my shoes. Oh how tempted I was by the Zara open toe mules when they first arrived in store... but am I glad I held off from buying them? Absolutely yes! I popped into Next last week and stumbled across this perfect pair. The closed toe and stiletto heel remind me of the Alexander Wang mules that I first fell in love with many months ago, and at half(ish) the price of the Zara ones I think it was just meant to be.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend - I was away in London gorging myself on lots of delicious food and one too many cocktails. What did you get up to?

The Man Repellers

ZARA shirt
ASDA gilet
RI shorts & watch
TOPSHOP sandals
NATIVE WOLF necklace*

Yes, yes, it's happened. I have fallen victim to the "ugly sandal", "Birkenstock", "pool slider" trend - or whatever else you want to call it. At first my opinions on this particularly controversial trend were firmly on the opposite side of the fence, but (mostly due to following so many gorgeous fashion bloggers) the inevitable has happened and I have finally succumbed to the stylishly unstylish footwear.

The sandals teamed with a simple pair of black denim shorts, a crisp white shirt and my old favourite leather gilet create the perfect casual summer's day outfit. But, the faux-Birks would look just as chic with a pair of skinny jeans, or maybe even my new pinstripe trews on a cooler day.

For once I am actually embracing flat shoes, and for now have shunned my strappy heeled sandals to the wardrobe in favour of their much more comfortable counterpart. Now all that's left is to convince our boyfriends to be seen out in public with us again.

I'm In Company Magazine!?

I just thought I'd pop a quick post up today about my feature in the July issue of Company Magazine. When I got the email inviting me to the festival-inspired shoot I was a whole mix of emotions. I was excited, terrified, and confused all in one! It wasn't even until I was actually in the studio in London that it really sank it that it was happening.

The style I was modelling was very bohemian with lots of feathers, flowing maxi skirts and extravagant embellishment. So, completely out of my comfort zone basically! Even so, it was really fun to be be wearing clothes nothing like my own personal style.

So if you happen to pick up the July issue of Company mag then make sure you keep an eye out for me in the "Street Girl" feature, alongside the beauts Megan and Laura.

Amsterdam Fashion Week - I Need Your Help!

Hello! Remember this outfit post? Well, it was my entry into Fashion Chick's MBFWA competition, and guess what? I'm a finalist! I was truly shocked to find out the news because I'd seen so many amazing entries, so you can probably tell I'm feeling very lucky and very excited.

The winner will be chosen between myself and one other finalist based solely on the number of votes we get, so I need your help! If you enjoyed this look and want to help me get to Amsterdam Fashion Week then please click HERE and vote for my look to win!

Thank you so much to everyone who has already voted, it really does mean so much to me. I'm always overwhelmed by the amount of support I get for this blog and the amazing opportunities it brings me, and a trip to an international fashion week would just be the cherry on the cake and a total dream come true. So thanks again to everybody for all your continued support! So much love to all of you!

Albufeira, Portugal

In case you weren't fed up of me spamming you all on Twitter and Instagram with pictures of my holiday, I thought I'd pop a few up on the ol' blog as well. I had a really relaxing few days with my bezzie, drinking lots of cocktails and lazing around by the pool. We also did a bit of exploring and even hopped on a boat that took us right out into the ocean where we saw lots of dolphins, such a great experience! We stayed in an apartment on the Eden Resort which was absolutely beautiful (first picture) and I can't recommend it enough if you're heading to the Albufeira area.

Hope you enjoyed a quick look at my holiday snaps. Are you going anywhere this year?
